Every Home Is Unique
The appliances, the layout, the heating, cooling, foundation, electrical, plumbing, etc etc etc. Each homeowner has a unique structure, mechanics, materials, appliances, and climate....and every homeowner eventually has unique maintenance and repair issues. DeelY was born after years of experience employed as a hotel maintence man, and as a homeowner facing regular issues to fix. At first it was hours spent searching owner-manuals, youtube videos (credit to "This Old House!"), industry experts, even building codes. Instead of calling someone to fix each and every issue around the house (expensive, time consuming), I found myself regularly searching through youtube videos and online manuals for the exact situation, model, and item I was trying to fix. It took hours and was incredibly frustrating. I quickly realized AI changes all of this, and if a "bot" had a holistic view of my house, and remembered every appliance brand and model that I have in my house, I could quickly ask it about a specific issue, and technology could quickly get the part, tool, and actions needed to fix the problem. I was not longer beholden to the professionals that would charge $200 to show up to fix my problem: a drain that wouldn't drain, a dryer that made too much noise, an ice maker that wasn't working, or a kitchen faucet leaking at the base.
I knew I was capable of fixing many of these home maintenance issues, but the process was maddening. After diving head first leveraging Artificial Intelligence, it seemed as if i was the "jack of all trades" and could fix anything. The information was out there, but finding it felt like a full-time job.
The Thrill of the $15 Fix
Despite the frustration of the search, the feeling when I finally fixed my dryer belt- a common DIY fix costing around $10-$25 for the part, yet professional service averages $150-$300...for something I did myself, easily! Realizing that a complex problem often had a simple solution—usually just a cheap part, an inexpensive tool (that I could probably use again), and a little know-how—was addictive.
That confidence spread. Soon, I wasn't just fixing appliances; I was building a shed, calculating how much drywall I needed for a new office, hardwiring gaming consoles with Cat-6 cable, re-lighting the water heater pilot light with confidence, and replacing the exact right gasket in the kitchen faucet.
I realized that the barrier to DIY wasn't skill—it was finding the right information quickly.
Meeting "Bob"
During those weekend projects, my young son was always right there, handing me tools and eager to help. We jokingly called him "Bob," the reliable fix-it man. That spirit lives on today. The friendly persona you see in the DeelY logo ("Bob") is inspired by my son's eagerness to help solve problems.
